Becky Lynch Reacts To NXT Ratings Boost

Becky Lynch NXT Women's Champion

NXT got big time when Becky Lynch came around and so did its ratings.

In the main event of NXT on September 12th, The Man came around as Becky Lynch took on Stratton after encountering some stars of the brand earlier in the show. Kiana James warned Lynch that she wasn’t wanted in NXT while Lynch shared a more positive encounter with fellow Irishwoman Lyra Valkyria.

The bout between Becky Lynch and Tiffany Stratton was back and forth and at one point saw Lynch attempt to drive the champion through the announce table with a leg drop. The finish saw Stratton go for her Prettiest Moonsault Ever, Lynch moved but Stratton landed on her feet only to walk right into a Manhandle Slam which allowed Becky Lynch to win the title.

Becky Lynch proves to be a ratings success

SportsTVRatings reported that the September 12th edition of NXT on USA Network averaged 850,000 viewers. That’s up 26.3% from the previous week. It’s also the seventh-highest audience total in the history of the show and the best viewership number for NXT since October 28, 2020.

The all-important 18-49 key demo numbers were very impressive as well as NXT drew a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 44.4% increase over the prior week. It also tied for the best rating the show has done in that 18-49 category in nearly four years going back to December 18, 2019.

In addition to that great news about the entire show, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics noted that the Lynch-Stratton match did over 1 million viewers for the overrun.

In response to the good news about her appearance on the show, Becky Lynch took to social media to share two simple words:

“Ratings Rebecca”

How long Becky Lynch will be a part of the NXT roster remains to be seen but after winning gold she noted that she and her husband World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins are “controlling the business.”
