Becky Lynch NXT Women’s Title Defense Set For Halloween Havoc
Becky Lynch will next defend the NXT Women’s Championship against a surprising opponent.
Following the events at No Mercy, it appeared that Lynch’s next opponent would be Tegan Nox on the October 2nd episode of Raw, who earned the right to be the next number one contender after defeating Natalya. However, due to Lynch not being cleared to compete, the title match was delayed. Despite being unable to wrestle, Lynch did appear on Raw and confronted Indi Hartwell, who declared that she would join Lynch on Tuesday.
The Man opened the October 3rd episode of NXT looking for her next challenger, with Lyra Valkyria, Roxanne Perez and Hartwell all answering the call. A Triple Threat was announced, where the winner would face Lynch for the title at Halloween Havoc Night One on October 24th.
Just as it looked like Perez would win the number one contender match, Kiana James broke up the pin and was subsequently dropped by Lynch. Valkyria capitalised by hitting a splash onto Hartwell to advance to Halloween Havoc. With the title match scheduled for 3 weeks time, there is still a possibility that The Man does get cleared to compete and can have the title match against Nox on an episode of Raw before the TV special.
Becky Lynch Successfully Defends Championship At No Mercy
Lynch was not cleared to compete due to the very physical main event of NXT No Mercy, where the champion faced Tiffany Stratton in an Extreme Rules match. Following the use of tables, a barbed wire bat and Barbie dolls, Lynch won by hitting a Man Handle Slam onto a pile of steel chairs to continue her reign over NXT.
