Becky Lynch Feared Career Was Over After Kicking WWE Legend

Not everything in Becky Lynch’s career has quite gone to plan.

Becky Lynch began her career while just a teenager and competed across, Ireland, the UK, and Europe before wrestling in Japan. However, after suffering a serious head injury, Lynch took a six-year hiatus but decided to give wrestling another go and signed with WWE in 2013.

While appearing on The Last Meal, Lynch looked back on her early career as she continued to promote her new book. The star recalled one incident when she was 16 and ended up sharing the ring with WWE Hall of Famer Jim Neidhart. During the match, Lynch kicked the veteran straight in the knee, bending it completely the wrong way. After getting told off she was scared her career was done.

“We were all going to jump him at the beginning of the match, just attack Jim Neidhart before the babyfaces came out. I just kicked him square in the kneecap. Just the way the leg is not supposed to bend. He pushed me back, ‘You don’t kick people like that!’ I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s it, I’m done. My wrestling career is over. Jim Neidhart, I nearly took him out and put him in the hospital.’

I was so scared. I just stayed away from him that whole match. After, he had calmed down and he was so nice. He was a dad, three girls, he was so sweet and so lovely, and taught me how to kick. He was great. That was my first big break,”

Could Becky Lynch Leave WWE?

During a different interview, Becky Lynch revealed she’s in the final two months of her WWE contract, and more interestingly, she claimed there have been no talks over a new deal.

At WrestleMania. Lynch will meet Rhea Ripley as she bids to win the Women’s World Championship.

Elsewhere, Becky Lynch said her future was “up for conversation,” however, she stated in December that she wanted to retire with WWE.
