Becky Lynch Wants Another Career First At WWE WrestleMania 40

Becky Lynch has lifted the lid on her WrestleMania dreams.

At WrestleMania 40, Becky Lynch will step into the ring with Rhea Ripley as she bids to win the Women’s World Title. Lynch hasn’t held a main roster title since WrestleMania 38 when Bianca Belair defeated her for what was then called the Raw Women’s Championship.

Aside from that night in 2022, the spectacular has generally been good to Lynch, with the star competing in the first-ever all-female main event at WrestleMania 35. However, as she prepares to face Ripley, The Man is gunning for another career first.

Speaking in a new interview with Clutch Points, Lynch revealed she would like to open the show.

“Nah, man, I’m not worried about card order,” Lynch quickly told me, shutting down any speculation that she may feel slighted. “I would love to open the show. I would love that. I’ve never opened WrestleMania before.

And to open this one, as big as it is in Philadelphia, I’m just putting that out there,” she manifested with a laugh. “It would be pretty cool because if it’s not the main event, I always want to be the opening spot — it’s always a great place on the card because people are so excited.”

Lynch reiterated that she wanted to open the entire event, giving her a chance to watch her husband Seth Rollins in the main event later that night,

“Ooh, night one. I would love to open the whole of WrestleMania, you know what I’m saying? Just [to] be that first match for that whole event,

[Opening the show will] give me enough time that I can relax and really enjoy Colby main eventing WrestleMania and getting to watch him do that because that will be so special,”

Becky Lynch Thinks Former Rival Will Return

Speaking elsewhere to promote her book The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl, Lynch reflected on her rivalry with WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. The Man said she was proud of how their feud played out, describing their Cage Match at Payback as one of her career highlights.

Becky Lynch also tipped Trish Stratus to make a comeback, commenting that she thinks she wants to return. Stratus hasn’t wrestled since being defeated in the match at Payback.
