Bayley Says She’s “A Little Too Old” To Follow Mercedes Mone

Bayley Sasha Banks WWE Womens Tag Team Championship

Bayley remains one of the most consistent stars on the WWE roster but the star has contemplated the possibility of following Mercedes Mone to Japan someday.

Mercedes Mone is better known to WWE fans as Sasha Banks and alongside Bayley, they were the first team to capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship when the title was reintroduced to the company in 2019.

Since then Mone left WWE after walking out of the company in May 2022 while Bayley remains a firm fixture and has headed up the Damage CTRL team in recent months alongside Dakota Kai and IYO SKY.

Speaking to Inside The Ropes Bayley was asked about the possibility of one day following in her former tag team partner’s footsteps and going to Japan but the WWE star says she thinks she might be too old for that style of wrestling:

“I think what she’s doing is incredible, but I don’t know if I’d be able to do it. That Japanese style is intense. I’m a little too old for that. She can go ahead and do all that. She’s braver than I am. She’s way more athletic than I am. So she can do all that stuff, and I’ll support her the whole time. If something were to happen and I was able to go experience different things like that, we’ll see. But right now, my body will say no.”

Bayley may well have been suffering the ill effects after being part of the women’s Money In The Bank match in London, England that was won by IYO SKY.

Mercedes Mone is currently out of action after suffering an injury in her bout to become the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion which ended up being won by AEW’s Willow Nightingale.
