Bayley has revealed how a WWE Hall of Famer’s influence stopped her from giving up her career.
On January 27th, Bayley outlasted 29 other women to win the Royal Rumble for the first time in her career. In the process, the Damage CTRL leader broke the record for the longest time spent in the women’s Rumble by battling on for a grueling 63 minutes.
The victory was another accolade in a career that has seen the star capture the Raw, SmackDown, and NXT Women’s Championships, the Women’s Tag Titles, and even win Money In The Bank. Howe
However, at the press conference following the event, Bayley revealed that none of it would have happened if it wasn’t for the influence of the late, great Dusty Rhodes, with the star saying The American Dream saw something in her she couldn’t see herself.
“I’ve said it for years, but Dusty he just had his projects in everybody. He just saw the one thing in everybody that we couldn’t see in ourselves. Byron’s done this. He helped me in promo classes all the time.
“The fact that I had my own TV show, Ding Dong Hello just blows my mind. I wish Dusty can see that because they had to pull me in for extra promo classes and make me do interviews and all this stuff. Because I was so shy but Dusty, just seeing something in me.
The Role Model admitted that if it hadn’t been for Dusty, she would have given up before she finished her first month in NXT.
“Whatever I was shy to share he wanted me to embrace, because he knew that was what was going to connect me with people. That’s what saved me. I would have given up in my first month, I wanted to be done.”
Rhea Ripley Suggests Huge Stipulation If Bayley Challenges Her At WrestleMania 40
With Balyey’s Damage CTRL teammate IYO SKY holding the WWE Women’s Championship, the star has made it clear that she will use her Royal Rumble victory to challenge Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Title instead.
Knowing about this, Rhea Ripley has suggested Bayley takes her on in an Iron Woman match on the grandest stage of them all. However, with dissension building in the ranks of Damage CTRL, the landscape could change a lot on the road to Philadelphia.
