Bayley Celebrates Anniversary Of WWE Match That “Changed My Life”
Bayley has looked back on a historic match from her legendary WWE career with fondness.
Ten years ago, at the WWE NXT Takeover Brooklyn event, Bayley and Sasha Banks “stole the show” with one of the best women’s matches in WWE history.
At the time of the match, Banks was the cocky heel champion who was well established as “The Boss” and bragged about how great she was.
Meanwhile, Bayley was known as a hugger who the fans loved because she portrayed a typical babyface who wanted to prove that she could be the top woman in NXT. At this point, the main roster women weren’t having longer matches regularly, but in NXT, they were given that time and were putting on amazing matches.
Bayley and Banks went on to have a fantastic match that many fans still remember and talk about a decade later. There were some incredible moves in the match, including when Bayley hit a reverse hurricanrana that spiked Banks on her head. That led to a Bayley to Belly, which led to the hugger becoming the new champion.

Sasha Banks is no longer a WWE superstar, having felt it was time to leave in May 2022 after nearly a decade, and now she’s thriving in AEW as the TBS Champion, Mercedes Mone. However, the two women are still friends, and they did an Instagram Live video together to celebrate the anniversary of their legendary match.
In a post on Instagram that included photos, the future WWE Hall of Famer and former hugger wrote about what she felt about the 10th anniversary of her iconic NXT Brooklyn match.

It’s hard to put it into words right now but hang with us on IG live later today and I’ll try to express all these crazy feelings.
I’m forever grateful that my wrestling journey aligned with yours, @mercedesmone. To be around someone that truly felt the SAME way that I did about all of this has been a blessing. I still can’t believe we have this night that will live on forever. You’re the best in the world.

As for present-day Bayley, she has been featured in video packages on Raw that show her going through some emotional character changes while reflecting on her heel run that saw her have more success than her current run.
