Why Austin Theory Shouldn’t Be Revealed As WWE Mystery Man

Austin Theory has had his name brought up more than anyone else’s since Survivor Series: WarGames.

On the November 29 PLE, the men’s WarGames match saw CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, The Usos, and Roman Reigns square off against Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, and Brock Lesnar.

While the battle looked evenly poised, its closing minutes witnessed a masked man enter the ring. As the men from both teams appeared confused, the masked man attacked Punk and hit a Seth Rollins-like stomp before exiting the cage.

Breakker, meanwhile, hit a spear on the World Heavyweight Champion to secure a pinfall win for his team.

Since then, the identity of the masked intruder has been widely discussed by fans, with Austin Theory emerging as the prime contender.

The 28-year-old has been out of action since July and was reported to be in WWE’s scheme of things in the future.

Is Revealing Austin Theory As The Masked Man A Mistake?

Austin Theory is a former two-time United States Champion and even has a WrestleMania victory over John Cena to his credit.

During the Survivor Series post-show, Triple H teased the reveal of the masked man on the subsequent RAW episode, but nothing of that sort occurred.

On a recent episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the former WWE manager and podcaster James Romero discussed the possibility of Theory being the masked individual.

Mantell expressed his reservations about the idea, while Romero explained why it could be a mistake.

James Romero: People are thinking it’s Austin Theory, and I think it’s the going theory at the moment.

Dutch Mantell: I don’t think Theory would…how would Theory fit in there?

Romero: I don’t know because he’s been a tag team guy for like 2-3 years. He’s been absolutely nowhere, even sniffing a decent singles run for years, since Vince McMahon was there, really. In my opinion, it’d cheapen it.

Mantell: Yep. I agree with you there. [25:39 onwards]
