Attitude Era Star Gives Controversial Take On Cody Rhodes

A former WWE star has shared their thoughts on Cody Rhodes.

Since returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes has been one of the most popular stars in WWE. Among some seasoned observers, Rhodes is regarded as the best pure babyface WWE has seen in several years.

During his second run with the company, Rhodes has overcome a serious pectoral injury, won the Royal Rumble match twice, and pushed Roman Reigns to the limit at WrestleMania 39. A year on from that defeat, Rhodes will be looking for revenge in Philadelphia.

While WWE and fans around the world are behind Rhodes, former WWE star D’Lo Brown told Busted Open Radio that he never saw him as a top guy. However, Brown did concede that WWE’s presentation has turned him into “the guy.”

“He’s going to be the guy because that’s where the direction they’re going. I look at Cody and I don’t say this disrespectfully. I’ve never seen that top tier echelon guy, but they have made Cody since he’s come back over from AEW into that top tier guy. So for the purposes of what story they’re telling, he’s the guy.”

Brown added that Rhodes can’t afford to lose at WrestleMania for a second year in a row.

“You have to because I don’t know if his character can do another 365 days to a third WrestleMania. I don’t know if fatigue will play in. It is hard to keep the interest of the fans and get them sympathetic with you. It’s even more difficult to do it for two years, damn near impossible to keep it going for a third year to finish the story, in my opinion.”

What Did The Rock Tell Cody Rhodes On Raw?

On the March 25th episode of Raw, The Rock made a surprise appearance to get in the face of the American Nightmare. However, while fans expected fireworks, The Great One whispered something in Rhodes’ ear before leaving.

In a post on social media, The Rock has now confirmed he told Cody Rhodes he would make him bleed.

By the end of the show, that proved not to be an empty threat after Rock destroyed Rhodes backstage, leaving him a bloody mess in the rain outside the arena.
