Asuka Reflects On Life-Changing WWE Anniversary
Asuka has done it all in WWE, and now she’s looking back on where it all began for her in the company.
Asuka signed with WWE in September 2015, changing the course of her career and the company forever. While the main roster was undergoing a “Women’s Evolution,” The Empress of Tomorrow was a one-woman tour de force in NXT. At TakeOver: Dallas in 2016, Asuka defeated Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship and went on to become an undefeated champion, relinquishing the title after 510 days to move to the main roster.
Asuka has held versions of the WWE Women’s Championship four times, as well as being a four-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Kairi Sane, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss. The Japanese star won the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble in 2018, and in 2020, she captured Money In The Bank.
Her Money In The Bank win also made history as she never received a shot at a title but instead captured the WWE Raw Women’s Title by virtue of Becky Lynch having to vacate the gold due to her pregnancy.
Asuka Reflects On WWE Career
Responding on social media to a post noting that it was ten years since Asuka officially signed with WWE, the star explained what has been important to her during her time in the company and that helping bring change was far more important than any titles or achievements:
I believe that ideals and convictions, what one sets out to achieve, hold more value than what one has actually accomplished. I have obtained every record, everything there is to obtain, but these are all merely waypoints. What has universal value and beauty is pioneering a new era, possessing the power to change the times.
That’s why I pursue how I can bring change and ideals to the ring, creating ‘before and after Kana’ and ‘before and after Asuka.’ Creating a path is far more difficult than walking down a path that others have made. And therein lies the most beautiful aesthetic of all. For me, living as a pioneer and living with conviction, philosophy, and aesthetics is a very important way of life

Asuka broke hearts on Raw when she attacked her long-time friend IYO SKY. SKY’s friendship with Rhea Ripley had caused issues with Asuka and Kairi Sane for weeks, and things finally came to a head with a betrayal that has left SKY devastated.
