Alexa Bliss Gives Health Update During WWE Absence
Alexa Bliss has revealed that she underwent a procedure to remove skin cancer cells from her face and laments the fact that she was fond of tanning beds in her younger days.
Bliss has not competed since she lost against Bianca Belair at the 2023 Royal Rumble. Reports have suggested that she is on a hiatus from the company but the former Raw Women’s Champion has disputed that.
Now Alexa Bliss has taken to social media to share the news that she underwent a procedure on her face at the American Skin Institute and replied to a fan concerned about her that she will only have a short time to heal:
“Thank you! Don’t worry, short healing time. Always get your skin checked! Esp if you are in the sun or use tanning beds! Lol”
Bliss then explained that after noticing a spot on her face she got it checked out only for doctors to find it was basal cell carcinoma:
“There was a spot on my face yes- that had gotten worse. So went to get biopsy. Was basal cell carcinoma. During my procedure doc also found other squamous cells. Was a quick and easy procedure. Glad I always get my skin checked”

According to the American Cancer Society, basal cell carcinoma accounts for 80% of all skin cancer cases in the US. The carcinoma is said to develop in the lower part of the epidermis and occurs most often on sun-exposed areas of the body such as the face, head, and neck.
The ACS also provides information on the early detection of basal cell carcinoma so if you notice anything different or unusual about your skin, then get it checked by a doctor.
