AJ Styles’ WWE Contract End Date Revealed After Scathing Raw Promo
AJ Styles spoke his mind on WWE Raw, but was his shocking promo really scripted, and what does it mean for his future in the company?
AJ Styles was not a happy man on Raw as he took to the microphone during a commercial break in the US that aired live around the world. Styles spoke about names from his past and former WWE stars such as Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, as he noted that he believes a situation has been engineered where he can no longer win. Styles really grabbed people’s attention by noting, “Somebody doesn’t want me here.”
Despite apparently airing his dirty laundry in the middle of a WWE ring, the promo was entirely scripted, but could still be hinting towards the end of his time in the company.
AJ Styles’ WWE Deal Up In February
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave more insight into AJ Styles’ headline-grabbing promo and revealed when the star’s contract with WWE ends:
The word is out, his contract is up in February. Whatever the situation is, obviously, it happened on television; it’s not a shoot. But they’re doing some kind of storyline and I think the idea was they did it on the foreign show and not the US show – which is kinda clever because if it was on the US show everybody would go, “It’s storyline,” but it was during the commercial, so now people are like, “It wasn’t scripted,” so it’s a unique angle that they are working on.
I don’t know how much longer he’s gonna go because when he signed a new deal, it was a short-term deal, so that tells me when he signed the deal, he wasn’t planning on wrestling much longer. It may be a way to call attention to farewell stuff.
