AJ Styles’ Surprising 16-Month Streak Ends During WWE Survivor Series

AJ Styles finally was able to pick up a victory at a WWE Premium Live Event after over one year of losses.

This year’s Survivor Series event only had five matches due to two really long WarGames along with two titles and one singles match between two former friends who are now rivals. That singles match saw AJ Styles compete against Finn Balor to try to settle an issue that has existed for months ever since Balor joined The Judgment Day group.

While Balor had a lot of success with The Judgment Day against other WWE legends like Edge and Rey Mysterio, Styles was able to pick up a big win over Balor at Survivor Series.

Styles didn’t beat Balor alone because he needed his fellow teammates in The OC, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, at ringside to neutralize The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest & Dominik Mysterio. After Dominik tripped up Styles without the referee seeing it, Gallows & Anderson got into a brawl with Priest & Dominik that led to those four guys brawling to the backstage area. That led to Styles working over Balor’s left knee for the majority of the and eventually getting the win with the Phenomenal Forearm.

An interesting note about AJ Styles getting that win is that it is his first victory at a WWE Premium Live Event since Money in the Bank 2021, which was 16 months ago.

It should be noted also that the 45-year-old Styles doesn’t wrestle on every WWE Premium Live Event, so it’s not like he has lost at every major WWE event for the past year and four months. With that said, it is still a long drought for a guy that’s a former two-time WWE Champion that will end up in the WWE Hall of Fame one day.
