AJ Styles Breaks Silence With Honest Admission About John Cena Feud
The AJ Styles-John Cena feud in WWE is one for the ages.
Cena was already an established superstar in the Stamford promotion when Styles made his debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble.
While Styles was offered a contract earlier in his career, he rejected it for personal reasons and went on to build himself a legacy wrestling in promotions like TNA and NJPW.
The 48-year-old star recently spoke to Justin Barrasso on Undisputed, where he recalled entering a feud with John Cena for the first time. AJ Styles confessed that he was unsure if Cena even knew who he was.
When you’re in the WWE bubble, it’s very difficult to keep up with anything else, so I wondered how familiar he was with it. My thinking is that, over time, he heard more and did more research.
Before our first match, he told me that he was trying to find stuff on me to cut a promo, but he couldn’t really find much. I’m assuming a lot of his research came from the Bullet Club, and that’s what he knew about it. [H/T: Undisputed]
The two men recently fought at Crown Jewel, where Cena prepared a special introduction for Styles, labelling him “The definition of Total Nonstop Action” and “The ace and total boss of the Bullet Club.”
AJ Styles To Defend Title On WWE RAW
AJ Styles currently serves as one-half of the tag team champions on WWE RAW alongside Dragon Lee.
On October 20, the duo teamed up to win the titles from The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh. During the latest RAW taping, the heels demanded their rematch, which was finalized for next week.
Elsewhere, AJ Styles has expressed his intention to retire from wrestling in 2026. There are reports claiming that the Stamford promotion has big things planned for him in his final year.
