AEW’s Tony Khan Giving More Care To Panned Show
Tony Khan has come under criticism for his approach as a promoter but now it seems more care is set to be given to at least one of his companies.
Tony Khan was the man who launched AEW in 2019 to great acclaim following the success of Cody Rhodes & The Young Bucks’ self-funded All In show in late 2018.
In 2022, Tony Khan stunned everyone as he announced his purchase of Ring of Honor. That promotion was struggling along and seemingly on life support when Khan bought it, and for some, not much has changed under its new ownership.
ROH TV tapings have been tacked onto the end of AEW events, meaning that they are viewed live by a dwindling number of people as many leave the arenas after the AEW section of the evening ends while an absence of a TV deal leaves only those subscribed to Honor Club able to keep up with what’s going on in the promotion.
But could something be about to change?
Tony Khan Making Big Changes With ROH
Fightful Select has now reported that after asking about the future of Ring of Honor it seems it’s going to have “more care” given to it.
ROH tapings are set to take place in Arlington, Texas and they could be seen as a turning point in the brand’s fortunes as it looks to be leading to the promotion getting its own dedicated tapings. The belief according to one source is that it will lead to more consistent creative with several shows filmed in one day.
It was also noted that former WWE stars Mace and Mansoor had been signed specifically for the Ring of Honor roster as things stand which could signal a shift in recruitment strategy and more company-specific talent under Tony Khan’s watch.
