AEW Worlds End: Continental Classic Tournament Ends In Shocking Defeat

Kazuchika Okada and Jon Moxley won their respective semifinal bouts of the Continental Classic tournament at AEW Worlds End.

While Okada defeated his compatriot Konosuke Takeshita, Moxley stood tall against Kyle Fletcher, albeit sustaining an attack to the left leg.

Moxley’s injury played a crucial part in the final, as his 38-year-old opponent constantly attacked his leg to keep him down.

Jon Moxley Dethrones Kazuchika Okada At AEW Worlds End

Before their match, both Kazuchika Okada and Jon Moxley cut a backstage promo each, explaining their intentions going into the bout.

Okada ended his segment with his trademark ‘b*tch’ jab.

Moxley took an offensive route on the match until he hurt his already injured leg after getting strung up on the top rope following a drop kick by Okada.

The Continental Champion frequently targeted the challenger’s leg, getting pinfalls that forced the former World Champion to forcibly kickout, thus sucking the energy out of him.

Moxley briefly executed an offensive, applying a Figure Four on the Japanese star.

Okada attacked Moxley’s knees more with a Texas Cloverleaf.

Okada hit Moxley low after finding the referee distracted, then followed it up with the Rainmaker; However, Moxley kicked out of the pin.

Moxley retaliated with a low blow of his own.

Jon Moxley no-sold a dropkick and got hit with another Rainmaker. He hit Okada with a Paradigm Shift, but was unable to get a pin.

Moxley hit the Death Rider to win the 2025 Continental Classic tournament and the Continental Championship for the first time.

The Death Riders celebrated with the newly-crowned champion.
