AEW Worlds End 2023 Results

The results are in for the AEW Worlds End pay-per-view with several huge title matches taking place on the show along with “The Devil” reveal.

AEW Worlds End took place at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York. It was the eighth and final AEW pay-per-view in 2023. There were 12 matches advertised for the show.

Going into the show, there was a lot of anticipation of MJF defending the AEW World Title in his hometown despite numerous injuries while fans wondered if The Devil would be revealed.

There were three ZERO HOUR Pre-Show matches:

* Willow Nightingale defeated Kris Statlander by pinfall.

* Killswitch (fka Luchasaurus) won a 20-man battle royal to earn a TNT Title shot. Killswitch won by last eliminating Trent Beretta.

* Hook defeated Wheeler Yuta by submission to retain the FTW Championship.

AEW WORLDS END MAIN SHOW

* Claudio Castagnoli, Bryan Danielson, Mark Briscoe & Daniel Garcia defeated Brody King, Jay White, Jay Lethal & Rush. Garcia pinned Lethal with a jackknife pin.

* Miro defeated Andrade El Idolo (w/CJ Perry) by submission. Perry is married to Miro. Andrade went for the Figure Eight, but Perry smacked his hands to stop it. Miro capitalized to win.

* Toni Storm defeated Riho to retain the AEW Women’s Championship by pinfall. Storm won with a DDT.

* Swerve Strickland defeated Dustin Rhodes by pinfall. Swerve attacked before the bell and stomped on Dustin’s left ankle onto a cinderblock. Despite the injury, Dustin wanted to have the match. Swerve won with the Swerve Stomp. Dustin Rhodes replaced Keith Lee in this match because Lee was injured.

* Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Sting, & Darby Allin defeated Ricky Starks, Big Bill, Konosuke Takeshita & Powerhouse Hobbs by pinfall. Guevara pinned Starks with a Shooting Star Press for the win. The crowd was against Jericho due to allegations of improper behavior.

* Julia Hart defeated Abadon by pinfall to retain the TBS Championship. Hart won with a moonsault off the top rope.

* Adam Copeland defeated Christian Cage by pinfall to win the TNT Championship. Copeland also lit a table on fire and Powerbombed Nick Wayne onto it.

Moments after the match, Killswitch attacked Copeland with multiple Chokeslams including a Chokeslam through a chair. Since Killswitch earned a TNT Title match earlier in the night, Christian made Killswitch give him the title match instead.

* Christian Cage defeated Adam Copeland by pinfall to win the TNT Championship. Christian won with a Spear. It was an 11-second match.

* Eddie Kingston defeated Jon Moxley by pinfall in the finals of the Continental Classic. Kingston won with a spinning back fist to the face leading to the pin. After the match, Kingston was presented with the new AEW Continental Championship, the ROH World Championship and the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship. It means Kingston is a Triple Crown Champion.

* Samoa Joe defeated Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) by submission to win the AEW World Championship. MJF wrestled the match with a sling to support his taped up left shoulder. Adam Cole, on crutches, was in MJF’s corner. MJF tried to fight through his injuries, but Joe wore him down and applied the Coquina Clutch submission on the mat. The referee Bryce Remsburg raised MJF’s arm once, twice and a third time without MJF getting his hand back up, so Joe won by submission. Joe left as the new AEW World Champion.

After the match, MJF and Adam Cole were in the ring together. The four masked men appeared at ringside. The lights went out as the four masked men teased a chairshot on MJF or Cole. When the lights came back on, Cole was sitting in a chair while the masked men revealed themselves to be Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett and Wardlow so that meant Cole was The Devil. MJF was yelling about it. The four guys attacked MJF again. Wardlow hit a Powerbomb on MJF.

Adam Cole pulled out The Devil mask from his jacket. Cole and his four friends stood over a fallen MJF as Worlds End ended. Excalibur said: “The world of Maxwell Jacob Friedman has ended.” That was the end of the show.
