AEW World Title Number One Contender’s Match Set For Dynamite

Samoa Joe AEW World Champion

Several AEW stars have made clear they are going after Samoa Joe’s title and now two of the company’s stars are set to face off for that opportunity.

Samoa Joe captured the AEW World Championship from MJF at Worlds End before Adam Cole revealed himself as The Devil who had been making MJF’s life a living hell in recent weeks.

But a champion never has long to celebrate their success and new challengers emerged in short order. Adam Page has made clear he is looking to get back into the title picture and Swerve Strickland has made his case for a shot at the gold.

With the rankings returning to AEW in 2024, Page and Strickland have found themselves racking up the wins and are now ranked one and two in the men’s rankings, putting them in pole position for a title shot.

Swerve Strickland vs. Adam Page Set For AEW Dynamite

On Dynamite in New Orleans, Page and Strickland got to pick each other’s opponents with Page beating the Mogul Embassy’s Toa Liona and Strickland getting the best of Rob Van Dam. After Strickland’s win, Adam Page confronted him and said he’d never let Strickland get a shot at the gold and that he was the next AEW World Champion.

Tony Khan then sent word that a match between Swerve Strickland and Adam Page will take place on the 7th of February edition of Dynamite and the winner will challenge Samoa Joe for the title at Revolution.
