AEW Stars Receive Offer From WWE

Triple H WWE Tony Khan AEW

Two AEW stars could be heading to WWE.

Back in June, it was reported that Penta El Zero Miedo would be open to making the jump to WWE when his contract expires later this year. At the time, Penta dismissed speculation he was planning to leave AEW as a “rumour,” but admitted that it would be a “good episode” of his career.

This was followed by reports noting that Rey Fenix’s contract was also expiring in 2024, seemingly paving the way for him to leave AEW alongside his brother. There were even claims that a deal between the Lucha Bros and the sports entertainment giant was a “formality.”

The Lucha Brothers signed with AEW back in 2019 and wrestled the Young Bucks on the company’s first-ever show Double or Nothing that May. During their time in AEW, the pair have held World Tag Team and World Trios gold, while Fenix is a former International Champion.

Sources Claim WWE Offer Has Been Made

A new report from Fightful Select has now offered an update on the situation, including claims WWE has already held talks with the popular duo.

The report reiterates that the Lucha Brothers will become free agents in 2024, with Penta’s deal coming up first, followed by Fenix’s around September. Initially, AEW was looking to re-sign the pair, but they kept delaying talks. and it became clear over the past few weeks that the brothers wanted to move on.

There have been talks within WWE about the team joining, and it’s believed they want to be a “package deal,” but don’t want to go to NXT. “Numerous sources” close to the former AEW Tag Team Champions claim they’ve already spoken to WWE, and there’s a preliminary offer on the table, thought to be similar to AEW’s offer.

When Fightful reached out to WWE sources they refused to comment on the situation.
