Major AEW Stars To Honor Jay Briscoe In Huge Match
A huge tag team match featuring some of AEW’s biggest stars has been announced for ROH Final Battle to pay tribute to the late, great Jay Briscoe.
The wrestling world suffered a devastating loss on January 17, 2023, when Ring of Honor Hall of Famer Jay Briscoe tragically passed away in a car accident. The accident killed Jay along with the driver of the other car.
Since Jay Briscoe’s death, Mark Briscoe has become a regular singles wrestler in both All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor while AEW also paid tribute to Jay after his death.
In Jay Briscoe’s last match, he teamed up with Mark Briscoe to beat the ROH Tag Team Champions FTR in an incredible Dog Collar Match at Final Battle 2022.
On Ring of Honor TV this past Thursday, Bryan Danielson and ROH Pure Champion appeared for a promo issuing a challenge to FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) and Mark Briscoe.
During the challenge, Bryan Danielson mentioned that his only singles match against Jay Briscoe took place at Final Battle 2003. Bryan Danielson also talked about how Jay Briscoe’s last match in ROH was at Final Battle 2022 when he and his brother wrestled FTR in a dog collar match.
Following the challenge by Danielson, AEW & ROH owner Tony Khan announced that at ROH Final Battle 2023 in Dallas, there will be a trios tag team match with the Blackpool Combat Club’s Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli & Jon Moxley facing off against Mark Briscoe and FTR – Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood.

Dax Harwood of AEW’s FTR tag team responded to the match announcement on Twitter/X noting that they’ll be fighting for the Briscoe family name.
“I feel safe to say, Cash & I became very close to Jay & Mark. I feel safe to say Jay LOVED his family more than anything. I feel safe to say Mark & Jay considered us family. I feel safe to say, if you ever threatened Jay’s family, he would’ve fought you.
This won’t be a match to “honor Jay”; he wouldn’t have wanted that. He’d want us to beat the asses these sons of bitches who challenged his family to a fight.
Next week, we’ll FIGHT for the Briscoe family name. Hope yall do the same.
Dem Top Guys, out!”
