AEW Star Undergoes Major Neck Surgery

AEW Tony Khan

One AEW star has been forced to undergo serious neck surgery.

Ahead of Forbidden Door earlier in 2025, Will Ospreay announced that he needed surgery to repair a serious neck injury. After discussing the issues on Dynamite a month earlier, he confirmed that he had a “few” herniated discs which were pressing on his spinal cord, causing nerve issues.

Despite the severity of the injury, the English star wrestled in a Lights Out Steel Cage match at Forbidden Door in London, England. In the days before the match, he assured fans that his involvement wasn’t as risky as it appeared, and he was under the care of several top doctors and medical professionals. In September, Ospreay confirmed that he’d undergone surgery and had begun his rehabilitation.

But Ospreay isn’t the only AEW name to go under the knife.

Retired AEW Star Undergoes Surgery

AEW’s Chuck Taylor took to social media to reveal he’s also gone under the knife, showing off the gnarly scar left on his neck as he wrote:

Got my neck cut off

On the April 27th 2024 episode of Rampage, Chuck Taylor took on Trent Beretta in a wild Parking Lot Brawl. When all was said and done, it was Beretta who had his hand raised, and on the following episode of Dynamite, it was revealed that Chuck Taylor would never wrestle again after suffering a serious injury.

However, it was later confirmed that it was not an injury to Taylor’s neck that ended his in-ring career.
