AEW Star Suffered Cut “So Deep You Could See Skull”

A recent injury on AEW Dynamite was much worse than it first appeared.

Injuries happen in pro wrestling but sometimes they can get out of hand. That was the case on the March 29, 2023 edition of AEW Dynamite when Don Callis took a scheduled bump and ended up hurting himself for real.

As part of a segment involving Jon Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club, Callis was supposed to go down following an assault. But he didn’t know that there was a lighting rig behind him. So when he went down he hit that rig very hard.

So hard, in fact, that he suffered a legitimate injury and started bleeding profusely, which caused him to be hospitalized.

In an update, Bryan Alvarez spoke on the injury on Wrestling Observer Live and was told that Don Callis’ injury was akin to someone getting attacked with a hatchet.

“In taking the bump, Don was unaware that there was a lighting rig right behind him. He went head first into the lighting rig and he got gashed open. It was described to me as looking like he was hit with a hatchet…allegedly his doctor told him it was so deep that you could see his skull, bleeding everywhere.

They took him to the hospital and he was there until 3 am…He was there til 3 am because it took them that long to put his head back together.”

Although Callis suffered a deep and bloody gash, he didn’t suffer a concussion and has since been sent home to recuperate.
