AEW Star Slams Backstage Heat Speculation
Sammy Guevara has had a rollercoaster eighteen months in both his professional and personal life and despite rumours suggesting otherwise, he says he has no issues with anyone backstage in AEW.
In August 2021, Sammy Guevara could do no wrong and proposed to his girlfriend Pam in the middle of an AEW ring to the delight of those watching. By New Year’s Eve of the same year, Guevara went public on his relationship with fellow AEW star Tay Melo (then known as Tay Conti) and public perception of the pair started to plummet.
Despite his nose-diving popularity, Guevara captured the TNT Title twice and he and Melo won the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship as the pair gave in to the fan’s reaction to them and joined the villainous Jericho Appreciation Society.
Backstage, controversy has never strayed too far from Guevara with the star being suspended in June 2020 after disgusting and offensive comments he made regarding Sasha Banks/Mercedes Mone in 2016 came to light. The Spanish God has also been involved in backstage altercations with both Eddie Kingston and Andrade El Idolo as problems have come to a head.
Speaking to The Sportster, Sammy Guevara says that despite the documented issues, everything right now is all positive backstage for him:
“I think in the locker room, I think it’s all positive. Thats the thing, I have no problems with anybody there, I say ‘what’s up’ to everybody, but the internet has to spin a story you know, I understand negativty brings in those clicks.”
