AEW Star Sets Sights On The Lucha Brothers

Lucha Brothers AEW

If anyone knows about teaming with their brother, it’s AEW star Matt Hardy and now the veteran star has his sights set on a showdown with another pair of brothers.

Matt Hardy built his career teaming with his brother Jeff Hardy, and the pair helped reinvent tag team wrestling during the Attitude Era alongside The Dudley Boyz and Edge & Christian in WWE.

The Hardys are still going strong in AEW – despite a recent attack from Bullet Club Gold apparently taking Jeff Hardy out of action – and there could still be another title reign in their future.

Speaking on The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, Hardy noted that he and Jeff would be open to returning to Ring of Honor to meet the ROH Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers, and noted that there could be mileage in a huge bout featuring all of AEW’s brother tag teams:

“I think that’s a possibility. I think you could see that happening. I heard at one point, you know, maybe some buzz about having actual blood brothers all locked up in a match.

“It’s interesting because there are several sets of blood brothers in aw there’s us, The Gunns. There’s The [Young] Bucks and then there’s Penta & Fenix. So who knows? We’ll see what ends up happening, but yeah, I think another match with Penta & Fenix, we have wrestled them before, but I think that would be fun to do a little program with those guys.”

Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix captured the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship in a Reach For The Sky ladder match at Supercard of Honor 2023. The Hardys briefly held that championship in 2017, losing the gold in a famous ladder match against The Young Bucks the night before they returned to WWE at WrestleMania 33.
