AEW Star Says He Is MJF’s Weakness

A current AEW star believes that he is MJF’s weakness due to their storied past together that saw Max on the losing end of a big match.

When AEW launched in 2019, Maxwell Jacob Friedman quickly made a big impact as a talented guy in his early 20s that had the gift of gab and a lot of talent in the ring too.

In addition to his own skills as a wrestler and a guy that could get under his opponent’s skin, MJF also had a guy named Wardlow by his side as an enforcer/security guy to watch his back. Wardlow was relatively unknown to the worldwide wrestling audience, but he stood out right away as a powerful man that could beat up anybody MJF wanted.

As is often the case in pro wrestling, the alliance between Max and Wardlow disintegrated in the years that followed. Sure, there were good times, but by early 2022, Wardlow was sick of taking orders and was ready to break out on his own.

All of this led to Wardlow destroying MJF at Double or Nothing in May 2022 at a time when there were questions about if Max would even show up for the match. During his AEW career so far, Wardlow is a two-time TNT Champion. Meanwhile, MJF has been the AEW World Champion for about five months.

Wardlow was interviewed by Bill Apter of Sportskeeda with the “War Dog” praising Max while also pointing out that he is the AEW World Champion’s weakness.

“He’s real strong on the mic. I guess you could say he’s pretty decent in the ring. But realistically, for any of those who say he has no weakness, Wardlow is his weakness.”

Regarding MJF’s impressive performance at AEW Revolution when he beat Bryan Danielson to keep the AEW World Title in a 60-Minute Ironman Match (it actually went 65 minutes), Wardlow did seem impressed by it.

“It was good. It surprised me. I think it surprised a lot of people. Yeah, he was better than I thought. I mean, the kid’s good, there’s no denying that. But he’s better than everybody except me.”

It sounds like Wardlow wants to get his hands on the AEW World Champion some day soon. Whether it happens, time will tell.
