AEW Star Reveals His Deal Expires In One Year
One AEW star has revealed that their current deal ends in one year’s time.
There is no shortage of question marks over several members of the AEW roster who have not been seen on TV in quite some time.
Questions arise every week about the status of Britt Baker, while many believe Chris Jericho is on the verge of a return to WWE when his deal expires at the end of 2025. Hikaru Shida has been forced to miss almost a year due to visa issues, and after a long layoff, Wardlow made his comeback only to immediately injure himself, forcing another long road to recovery.
Another star who falls into this category is former Inner Circle member, Ortiz. Ortiz only competed in AEW five times in 2023 and had a solitary match in Tony Khan’s company in January 2024, and hasn’t been seen since. In contrast, his former tag team partner, Santana, left AEW and has now captured the TNA World Championship as he bet on his own success.
Ortiz Takes On New Role In AEW
Speaking to Wombreezy, Ortiz explained how long is left on his current deal and said, despite not competing himself, he’s been keeping busy in AEW:
As of right now, I have about a year left with the company. Give or take on this current contract. I would love to stay there. I love working at AEW. I’ve been coaching and doing producing, which is learning a different skill and will give you longevity.
It’s also making me be a better wrestler because I’m helping people call matches and I’m analyzing it from a different lens. I’m really enjoying that. It’s something I wanted to do anyway, and now I’m getting the opportunity to do it there. Even if I stay on purely to do coaching and producing, and I can still wrestle, I’m happy. If they keep me, I would stay.
