AEW Star Open To Leaving For WWE
A popular AEW star could be preparing to jump to WWE.
2024 has already proven to be a hugely interesting year for wrestling contracts, and that theme looks set to continue.
It was recently reported that WWE had a strong interest in signing Penta El Zero Miedo when his contract expires. In response to the speculation, the former AEW World Tag Team Champion admitted the move would be good for his career, but he’s happy where he is.
In a new update in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Melter noted Penta is open to joining the sports entertainment giant.
Penta’s contract which has been talked about some of late expires in roughly two months. For months we’ve heard he’s open to leaving. Tony Khan said he’s confident he can keep him, but we know he’s been open to the idea of going to WWE.
He said he hasn’t talked to WWE (he legally can’t directly for a few more months) but was open to hearing from them when he could. He said he believes this is probably his last big money deal (he’s 39) and that he has a lot of people counting on him so he has to look at everything. That statement makes me think he’s going where he gets the best offer.
MJF Rejected WWE Interest
Meanwhile, MJF has confirmed he rejected interest from WWE in order to sign a new AEW contract. The former World Champion said in a recent interview that staying with AEW was an easy decision to make citing the company’s impressive talent roster. He also made sure to mention he’s being paid an “exorbitant amount of money.”
MJF will also be in action at Forbidden Door where he takes on CMLL star Hechicero.
