AEW Star Knocked Out In Frightening Collision Moment

An AEW star has suffered a concussion.

On the July 13th episode of Collision, Dalton Castle took on Roderick Strong as the pair battled to become the number one contender for the Ring of Honor World Title.

In the end, it was Strong who got the win, and he’ll go on to challenge Mark Briscoe for the gold at Death Before Dishonor on July 26th. However, the finish of the bout has been branded a “complete mess” by Dave Meltzer after Castle was knocked unconscious.

The winning pin-fall came after Strong hit Castle with his jumping knee, but that wasn’t the plan. Despite Castle not kicking out, the referee didn’t initially complete the three count, but when it became clear the star was in trouble he was counted out. The match was taped in advance meaning the error was edited out.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer broke down the incident.

“What happened was a flying knee that knocked out Dalton Castle. He got knocked out. The referee counts 1-2, held up the count because it wasn’t supposed to be the pin, then counted the 3 because Dalton Castle never moved. They didn’t show Dalton Castle. He was on the ground for several minutes, so they didn’t show any of that,”

“You could see the edit but the edit was the referee held up the count, Dalton didn’t kick out, and then the referee had to count the three because Dalton wasn’t getting up. In the building, this was a complete mess and they were very lucky that this week’s show was taped for this reason. Not a good one.”

AEW Star Written Off Television

During the same episode, Trent Beretta was written off AEW television via an attack with a monkey wrench from Orange Cassidy.

It’s been reported that Beretta had been set for a push up the card, but those plans have now been dropped.

The star hasn’t wrestled since being by Orange Cassidy at Double or Nothing.
