AEW Star Says They’re The Greatest Female Wrestler Of All Time

One AEW star thinks they’re head and shoulders above the competition.

At Double or Nothing, Mercedes Mone will wrestle her first match in AEW when she takes on Willow Nightingale. The star was officially unveiled by the company back in March but has been unable to wrestle for over a year after suffering a broken ankle against Nightingale in 2023.

Mone initially found fame in WWE as Sasha Banks, before heading to NJPW, and she feels it’s time for fans to get to know her new persona.

Speaking with Cameron Hawkins of The Ringer ahead of Double or Nothing, the star said “Mercedes Mone” is something different from what fans have seen before. Mone went on to claim she’s the best female wrestler in history.

“They haven’t really got to see the CEO. They know who Sasha Banks is, but the CEO, Mercedes Moné, [is] something they’ve never seen before, and I’m ready to show them. I’m the greatest women’s wrestler of all time, 100 percent,”

Mercedes Mone Nervous Ahead Of AEW Debut

Looking ahead to her match with Nightingale more specifically, Mone admitted she’s “really nervous” despite not trying to put too much pressure on herself.

“I don’t want to put pressure on myself, because I’ve been doing this for 14 years. I have more excitement than pressure, but I am really nervous as well, just because it’s been a year since I performed, but being in the ring with someone like Willow Nightingale, I know it’s going to be absolutely everything I’ve ever dreamed of. We’re going to go out there and steal the show.”

The bout between Mone and Nightingale is one-third of a triple main event alongside Anarchy in the Arena, and the World Title match between Swerve Strickland and Christian Cage.
