AEW Star Recalls “Great Experiences” With CM Punk

CM Punk

Despite the controversy, one AEW star has nothing but good things to say about CM Punk.

CM Punk’s time in AEW will be studied for decades. His run lasted a little over two years and included World Championship wins, acclaimed feuds, high-quality matches, and more controversy than most wrestlers experience in an entire career.

Despite the controversy, several stars have spoken positively about their time working alongside the star.

Speaking in a new interview with Bootleg Kev, Swerve Strickland said he only has good memories of working with Punk.

“I was his last TV match. The All-Star tag match on Collision. I had great experiences with him. Didn’t interact with him a lot, but I always had positive interactions. My first day there, I was taking my photos and renders, and he jumped in and photobombed it. I never even spoke to him or had an introduction, but that was his first interaction to me. I was like, ‘This is cool, that’s dope.’

When I went out and did my contract signing, he was like, ‘How did it go?’ ‘It went excellent, thank you.’ He’s always been a positive influence with me.”

Swerve Strickland Says AEW Should Sign CM Punk’s WWE Rival

During the same interview, Swerve Strickland said he would love AEW to sign Drew McIntyre who will become a free agent in the coming weeks.

Although the exact expiry date of McIntyre’s WWE contract is unknown, it’s believed the deal runs until shortly after WrestleMania 40. There have been talks between the two sides and all involved remain on good terms, however, according to the most recent report on the situation, no new contract has been signed.
