AEW Star Demands To Leave Company
One AEW star has requested their release from the company but Tony Khan is refusing to budge.
Ricky Starks hasn’t wrestled in AEW since teaming with Big Bill to take on Top Flight on the March 30th edition of Collision. At the time there were rumours Starks had suffered an injury, but he’s repeatedly denied that this is the case.
The former AEW Tag Team Champion was set to debut for GCW in recent weeks but AEW pulled Ricky Starks from those shows over comments made by Effy regarding Tony Khan. Starks is still competing in other independent companies but it looks like a return to AEW won’t be happening.
Tony Khan Refuses Ricky Starks’ AEW Release
According to Ibou on WrestlePurists Raw Recap, Ricky Starks has asked for his release from AEW but Tony Khan is holding firm on refusing to give him it:
At the end of the day, things happened to where he’s on the outs with AEW right now. It is what it is. There’s a lot of things, most of it will never be reported. But ultimately there’s a falling out there and it is what it is.
He’s asked for a release, Tony won’t give it to him, and he’s just going to wait the rest of his deal. He’s going to stay relevant by working indy dates and good for him, I’m happy for him. That’s just gonna be the situation in the meantime.
Ricky Starks is not the only AEW star looking to leave the company. Rey Fenix hit out at “inhumane treatment” by AEW as he was not released by the company to join his brother Penta in WWE.
