AEW Star Backs Tony Khan In Social Media Row
AEW star Powerhouse Hobbs has defended Tony Khan’s controversial use of social media and says the boss just believes in his company and its stars.
Jinder Mahal proved to be the catalyst for Tony Khan’s outburst as he responded to what he saw as a difference in reception to Mahal receiving a World Heavyweight Title shot and HOOK going after the AEW World Title against Samoa Joe.
According to Tony Khan, criticism of HOOK receiving a title shot was in stark contrast to the absence of the same for Mahal receiving a shot at Seth Rollins’ title despite Mahal last winning a main roster match in June 2022.
Khan’s posts caught like wildfire and his usual critics such as Eric Bischoff were quick to claim their slice of the spotlight by attacking the AEW boss.
Speaking to Adrian Hernandez of Sporting Tribune, Powerhouse Hobbs was asked to chime in on Khan’s social media habits and said Khan is speaking his mind because he’s 100% behind his company:
It’s his company. He believes in us, and if you believe in something, speak your mind. If you’re 100% sure on it, speak your mind. If you’re 99% sure on it, don’t speak on it. He’s 100% sure and he’s speaking his mind. He believes in his company and he believes in us.
AEW Stars Embarrassed By Tony Khan
While Powerhouse Hobbs is supportive of Tony Khan using social media in such a fashion, some AEW stars were said to be embarrassed by Tony Khan’s conduct.
Powerhouse Hobbs teamed with Konosuke Takeshita on the Homecoming edition of Dynamite in a defeat against Sting and Darby Allin. After that match, Sting’s last-ever opponents apparently made themselves known.
