AEW Star Wanting Release Has Significant Time Left On Deal

An AEW wrestler wanting to be released by the company has a lot of time left on his contract.

When Miro made his AEW debut in September 2020 it came after a ten-year run in WWE that saw him have a lot of success as Rusev.

During his AEW run, Miro had a reign as the TNT Champion, but most of his run will be remembered due to how much time he has been away from the company over the last four years.

One of the more incredible stats about Miro’s time in AEW is that he has only wrestled in 11 matches since November 2021. While he did have shoulder and elbow injuries that sidelined him during some of his AEW run, it is believed that Miro is healthy now and he is just sitting on the sidelines.

In September 2024, it was revealed that Miro asked for his AEW release while people in pro wrestling are wondering if that could lead to a Rusev return in WWE with Triple H booking him rather than Vince McMahon like it was during his first run in WWE.

How Much Time Does Miro Have Left In His AEW Deal?

During a Q&A on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp noted that nothing has indicated that All Elite Wrestling has granted Miro the release that he requested. Sapp also mentioned that Miro is signed with AEW for nearly two more years with a deal that is set to expire in the spring of 2026. It’s also believed that if AEW wants to add time to the deal due to injury, it’s possible that the deal could expire after that.

It has been reported previously that Miro signed a two-year contract when he joined AEW, but when that was due to expire in 2022 he agreed to a four-year extension. It’s also been reported that Miro is making a salary in the seven-figure range.

Miro was married to former WWE star Lana, who worked for AEW as CJ Perry before moving on from her role there. The couple announced in March 2024 that they were broken up.
