AEW House Rules Results March 18th – Troy, Ohio
AEW was back on the road for a live event on Saturday night as the company plans to run more live events this year.
For the first four years of its existence, AEW didn’t do many house shows (or some people call them live events), which are shows in front of fans that are not aired on television. It’s mostly just a television product with AEW Dynamite on Wednesdays, Rampage on Fridays, their YouTube shows and the four or five pay-per-view events per year.
Traditionally, house shows were common in pro wrestling, but the industry has changed a lot. While WWE does live events nearly every weekend all year round either with the full roster or splitting the Raw/Smackdown brands, AEW has only had a few non-televised events in its history.
In November 2022, WWE & Impact Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett was hired by AEW as a wrestler and also the Director of Business Development that was going to have a big role in helping the company run house shows. That’s because Jarrett has a lot of experience from running TNA/Impact for many years and also doing a similar job when he worked for WWE recently.
On Saturday, March 18th at the Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio, AEW ran a house show with many of their biggest stars taking part in the show. Here are the results with thanks to Wrestling Bodyslam for the information.
* Ethan Page defeated Shawn Dean. After the match, Ethan wanted another match.
* FTW Champion Hook defeated Ethan Page.
* Jeff Jarrett defeated Brian Pillman Jr.
* Ruby Soho def. Hollyhood Haley. After the match, Ruby used some spray paint on Haley, so Skye Blue made the save and Ruby retreated.
There was a promo from AEW Owner Tony Khan thanking the fans for being there.
* Orange Cassidy & Darby Allen defeated The Butcher & The Blade.
* QT Marshall defeated Pat Buck. Buck is a Producer in AEW.
* TNT Championship: Powerhouse Hobbs (c) defeated Christopher Daniels
* Blackpool Combat Club – Jon Moxley & ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli defeated The Firm – Lee Moriarty & Big Bill
Below are some tweets from AEW’s Owner Tony Khan, who was on hand at the show. You can see there were cameras at ringside. There are also tweets from wrestlers on the show.
