Samoa Joe shocked the world at Worlds End when he defeated MJF for the AEW World Championship. The company will no doubt be hoping that Joe’s status could provide some much-needed stability following a tricky few months that saw CM Punk fired and MJF out of action amid continued uncertainty over his long-term plans in AEW.
Speaking on What Happened When Tony Schiavone gave his reaction to Samoa Joe winning the AEW World Championship and explained why he’s thrilled that Joe now holds the top prize in the company:
It was a great match. I’m thrilled that Samoa Joe is our champion because backstage-wise, he’s a pro’s pro. There’s nobody backstage that is better and a leader backstage for the boys than Samoa Joe. He leads by example. I think it’s a great move to have him as our world champion. I’m all about Samoa Joe.
