AEW Announces CM Punk Match For First Collision Main Event
The main event has been announced for AEW Collision and CM Punk will be a part of it.
For the past month, AEW has slowly announced details about their new Saturday night TNT show Collision, which premieres on Saturday, June 17th from the United Center in Chicago.
While there have been reports of AEW possibly instituting some sort of roster split where some talents will be on Collision while others will be on Dynamite, the company hasn’t announced anything like that. However, advertising for Collision does specifically have certain people on it with CM Punk expected to be the biggest star of the show.
It has also been reported previously that CM Punk and his good friend Ace Steel, who was rehired by AEW recently, will have a major say in some of the creative direction of Collision.
On the June 7th edition of AEW Dynamite from Colorado Springs, Colorado, AEW’s CEO & GM Tony Khan announced a huge six-man tag team match that will be the main event of the first episode of Collision.
That match will see the former two-time AEW World Champion CM Punk team up with AEW Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) against the team of “Switchblade” Jay White, “Rock Hard” Juice Robinson and the ROH TV Champion, Samoa Joe.

For CM Punk, it will be his first match since AEW All Out in September 2022 when Punk won the AEW World Title for the second time. Unfortunately for Punk, he also tore his triceps that day, which required major surgery and a lengthy rehab process.
All Out 2022 was also a night where CM Punk went on a press conference rant that angered a lot of people in AEW including The Elite’s Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson. That would lead to a fight when The Elite confronted Punk & Steel in Punk’s locker room. There were suspensions for everybody involved while Steel was fired until recently being brought back.
CM Punk being in the main event of the Collision debut isn’t a surprise considering it’s in his hometown of Chicago and the AEW fans will likely be happy to see him back.
