AEW Asking For Trouble With Andrade El Idolo Return

Andrade El Idolo AEW

Andrade El Idolo is back in AEW, but it’s not been universally praised as a great move for the company.

Andrade El Idolo made his shock return to AEW on the sixth anniversary of Dynamite as he attacked Kenny Omega. His comeback came just weeks after the Mexican star was fired by WWE, with questions surrounding the true nature of why he was let go.

The return also happened less than two years after Andrade left AEW to return to WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble. His time in Tony Khan’s company was far from plain sailing, however, and it was marked with huge periods of absence amid reports of unhappiness and an unwillingness to do what was asked of him.

Is Andrade El Idolo’s Return Really Good For AEW?

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer did not hold back in his assessment of the situation and claims Andrade El Idolo will always look at AEW as less than WWE:

As people who know Andrade have told me, he’ll always think of Tony Khan as secondary to WWE, no matter what. We’re asking for trouble. That’s what I expected.

I know the guy can wrestle but they have so many guys that can wrestle that don’t even get a lot of time because so many guys are great wrestlers. And so many of these guys that are great wrestlers, they’re not fixing or wanting to go to WWE because WWE’s better or the last time they were there it was tough to do business with them, they had outside the ring problems. I always think burn me once, learn a lesson. This was not a lesson learned.
