Adam Copeland Reveals Unique Ideas WWE Had For The Judgment Day

Edge with The Judgment Day

Adam Copeland has opened up on some of the more unique pitches for The Judgment Day.

In 2022 – while still in WWE and known as Edge – Copeland began showing a darker side to his persona and resurrected elements from his time as part of The Brood. At WrestleMania 38, he defeated AJ Styles with some help from Damian Priest and the two revealed they were working together as The Judgment Day before adding Rhea Ripley to their ranks.

While the group had a gothic aesthetic reminiscent of the likes of The Brood and The Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness, Copeland revealed on the Notsam Wrestling Podcast that WWE had ideas to take things further to the point of being cartoonish. Luckily, the Rated-R Superstar turned down the plans.

“At one point it was talked about a cauldron with bubbling black fluid and I’m holding a pitchfork, and it’s like, whoa. I don’t want to do that because that’s not going to work.

“Then there was one week they wanted us to float to the ring. I was like, ‘What?’ They said, ‘Well, no, we’ll put it on like a dolly.'”

Only months after forming The Judgment Day, things went sour for Copeland. On the night he welcomed Finn Balor to the group, Balor led Ripley and Priest in turning on their former leader and kicking him out.

Adam Copeland Says The Judgment Day Was Almost The New Brood

During the same interview, Adam Copeland revealed that initial pitches had The Judgment Day being brought in as The New Brood in reference to his old Attitude Era faction with Gangrel and Christian Cage.

Regardless of the name, the star said he always wanted the group to be for underutilized talents and immediately named Priest and Ripley to be part of that.
