Adam Copeland Checked Over After Serious AEW Injury Scare

Adam Copeland emerged from AEW Double Or Nothing with his TNT Title intact but his win could have come at an even greater cost.

In recent weeks Malakai Black vowed to bring back the old Adam Copeland and would go to any lengths to prove the WWE Hall of Famer still had a dark side to him. Copeland defeated Black’s partners Buddy Matthews and Brody King in matches for the TNT Title and that led to a showdown between the champion and Malakai Black at Double Or Nothing in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage match.

The blood soon flowed in the brutal match and Copeland looked to have his time as a champion coming to an end when Matthews and King both got inside the cage. With a three-on-one assault taking place, The House of Black had Copeland primed for his end as they wrapped him in barbed wire. Adam Copeland was saved by his former WWE partner Gangrel who took out Matthews and King which allowed Copeland to hit a spear and wrap Black in barbed wire before he made his challenger pass out in the crossface as he retained his title.

Speaking at the post-show media scrum, Tony Khan addressed Copeland’s status while sat next to NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi, and noted that Copeland was being checked over:

Speaking of the face of TNT, Mr. Copeland, we are checking him out. That was an amazing barbed wire cage match. He has been so awesome since he came in, and I’m knocking on all the wood and crossing all my fingers and toes that he is okay.

Adam Copeland arriving in AEW, came at a perfect time for us. What a run he is having. I was hoping he would be sitting here [in the presser] with Tanahashi-san and myself right now. He’s really beat up, [but] I’ll cross my fingers and hope that he’s okay.

Double Or Nothing saw MJF make his huge return to the company while in the night’s main event anarchy ruled as Jack Perry was literally set on fire.
