Adam Copeland Might Be On Best Run Of His Career In AEW Says Tony Khan

Adam Copeland

Tony Khan thinks that Adam Copeland’s run in AEW might be better than anything he did anywhere else.

Adam Copeland arrived in All Elite Wrestling at the AEW WrestleDream PPV on October 1, 2023. Copeland decided to try something new after being the WWE Hall of Famer known as Edge for the previous 25 years.

Since joining AEW, Copeland has been a two-time TNT Champion who has had memorable matches with big names while also having a lengthy feud with his best friend Christian Cage.

Unfortunately for Copeland, his last TNT Title defense against Malakai Black at the Double or Nothing PPV in May led to a serious injury when Copeland jumped off a steel cage and landed on his legs while delivering an elbow drop. Copeland suffered a broken tibia (leg) that required surgery and will likely keep Copeland out of the ring for most of the rest of this year.

Tony Khan is AEW’s CEO and the man who runs the company creatively. While being interviewed by SportsGrid recently, Khan made the bold claim that he thinks Copeland’s short time in AEW might be the best thing he’s done in wrestling.

“[Copeland] was the TNT Champion, the face of our other network. He arguably has been on the greatest run of his entire legendary career, which is really saying something because he’s had so many great matches, so many great runs.”

“What he’s been doing in AEW is some of the best stuff. I’m really proud of that. He was on this amazing run. Unfortunately, he got injured, and he had to vacate the TNT title, but we’ve had so many great free agents come in just in the past year.”

Considering all that Copeland accomplished in WWE as Edge, many people might consider what Khan said to be from a biased perspective.

Adam Copeland Has “Major Regret” About Injury

The next AEW pay-per-view is the All In London show from Wembley Stadium on August 25th. Due to his injury, Copeland won’t be wrestling at the show. Copeland admitted that he had regret about the injury due to missing out on this year’s Wembley show.

“The regret that I have in this injury happening when it has, was Wembley Stadium. I was really, really pumped for Wembley because throughout everything and all the different venues I’ve been — and even all the dumps that I’ve wrestled or the barns that I’ve wrestled or just whatever right — Wembley, man, like I just think of Freddy Mercury I think of Queen.”

“That’s where I go and it’s like, ‘Oh Wembley I can’t wait.’ Well, looks like I’m gonna have to wait longer.”

The likely main event of AEW All In London will see Swerve Strickland defend the AEW World Title against Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner Bryan Danielson.
