The AEW women’s division could soon be boosted by the return of a previously prominent star.

Serena Deeb hasn’t wrestled since defeating Harley J on the October 18th, 2022 tapings for AEW Dark. The match was broadcast on October 24th.

Following the taping, Deeb disappeared from AEW and hasn’t been referenced on television. The former NWA Women’s Champion had been a prominent member of the women’s division through much of 2021 and 2022, featuring regularly on Dynamite, tangling with some of the promotion’s biggest stars.

However, it seems that Deeb could be nearing a return. According to a new report from Fightful Select, the star was backstage at Collision on October 14th.

“Those that we’ve spoken to say they haven’t seen Serena backstage at all this year, and the area isn’t anywhere near where she would have just been visiting.”

Why Has Serena Deeb Been Absent From AEW

There has been no official comment on why Serena Deeb has been off television, although it’s been reported she had heat backstage. There were claims that Deeb had a “serious disagreement” with bosses backstage and this led to her hiatus. The issues reportedly stemmed from Deeb being “very vocal” about how she was used on television.

For her part, Deeb reportedly told people she was struggling with an injury and this caused her to take a break.
