76 Year Old Ex-WWE Competitor Returns To The Ring
A long-time wrestling star who shared the ring with Hulk Hogan long before the WWE Hall of Famer was known by that name has competed once again at the age of 76.
Chic Donovan’s career stretches back to the late seventies when he was part of Georgia Championship Wrestling and sharing the ring with legends of the business such as Ole Anderson, Blackjack Lanza, Baron Von Raschke, Ernie Ladd, and Bobby Eaton. It was in 1979 when Donovan twice came up against a man named Sterling Golden, that man later revolutionized the wrestling business – more than once – as Hulk Hogan.
Donovan wrestled a handful of times in WWE during his career, losing to both Ricky Steamboat and Ultimate Warrior before resurfacing in 1995 for two more matches where he was part of a team with Rip Rogers that lost to The Smoking Gunns before he lost a singles bout against The British Bulldog.
While Hogan looks unlikely to lace up his boots again, very little is stopping Chic Donovan from doing so as at the age of 76 he competed at a recent show for Create A Pro Wrestling in Melville, New York. Donovan took on JGeorge in a dark match, where the veteran was defeated.
Chic Donovan’s grandson is current Create A Pro Champion Bryce Donovan and he headlined the show by defeating Vargas to retain his title.
So proud of my Grandfather still getting it done at age 76
When I was a small child listening to his stories about wrestling Jerry Lawler in AWA, he would look at me and say “I know one day you’ll grow up to become Create A Pro Champion.”
He was right!

The wrestling veteran was not the only surprise on the show as AEW World Champion MJF also competed, defeating Leo Sparrow in a little under ten minutes.
