Five-time WWE Champion has quietly retired from in-ring competition. The star in question is Bobby Roode, who is a 1-time NXT Champion, 1-time United States Champion, 1-time SmackDown Tag Team Champion, and 2-time RAW Tag Team Champion.

Roode’s last match in the Stamford-based promotion was against Omos on June 25, 2022, at Saturday Night’s Main Event House Show at Amarillo Civic Center in Amarillo, Texas. His decision to retire followed two serious neck fusion surgeries: a C5-C6 fusion in September 2022 and a C4-C5 fusion in May 2023.

Despite being medically cleared to return, Roode announced in February 2024 on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast that he had no plans for a full-time wrestling comeback. Now, Roode has smoothly transitioned into a backstage role as a producer, focusing on match production and talent development.

Fightful Select noted that WWE has had no talks about Roode returning to active competition. He has embraced his producer role and is regarded as a valuable creative presence behind the scenes, helping shape the company’s programming and matches.

Roode is celebrated for his impressive career in both TNA and WWE. He began in TNA as part of Team Canada before forming the legendary tag team Beer Money, Inc., becoming a six-time TNA World Tag Team Champion and one of the longest-reigning champs. He also achieved two reigns as TNA World Heavyweight Champion, including one of the longest in company history.

In WWE, Roode rose quickly by winning the NXT Championship and later securing the United States Championship. He has also claimed the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships and the 24/7 Championship.

Bobby Roode Responsible For Incredible CM Punk-John Cena Segments In WWE

It has been revealed that Bobby Roode played a key role in producing the John Cena vs. CM Punk match at Night of Champions. Reports from PWInsider and Fightful confirmed Roode’s involvement in planning the Saudi Arabia main event and the June 27 SmackDown Cena/Punk segment.

While Roode doesn’t write the scripts, he is responsible for the overall production and match flow. The match ended with John Cena defeating CM Punk to reclaim the Undisputed WWE Championship. Cena now prepares to face Logan Paul at Clash in Paris as part of his retirement tour.
