Why 4-Time WWE Champion Must Beat John Cena In Farewell Match

John Cena

John Cena’s final match is on December 13th, 2025, at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament will decide who will face John Cena in his final match.

The first two matches of the tournament have been announced: Damian Priest vs. Rusev and Sheamus vs. Shinsuke Nakamura.

John Cena might face Gunther in his final match

The Ring General is supposedly WWE’s top pick for The Champ’s final match. However, if plans have changed, the new name will be revealed once the tournament is over.

On Notsam Wrestling, Sam Roberts claimed that Gunther should defeat John Cena in his final match so that a super villain is established in Gunther.

I know there are people who won’t like it, but that’s the point. Gunther is a bad guy. Gunther is a villain. And this is how you build a super villain. This is how you build a super villain in a way that you haven’t had the opportunity to since maybe 2002.

Not to just have somebody, and you could say, “Well, he’s already been world heavyweight champion.” Well, Gunther already is a main event bad guy. There’s a difference between being a main event bad guy and an absolute super villain.

He compared it to when Brock Lesnar defeated The Undertaker and broke the streak, and became an unstoppable force in WWE. He became such a big name that even in 2025 and 2026, he is considered to be the top guy.
