The Rock Wraps Filming On New Movie

The Rock on WWE SmackDown

The Rock has completed filming on his latest big money motion picture.

‘The Smashing Machine’ is an upcoming biopic on former two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament winner and decorated collegiate wrestling athlete, Mark Kerr.

The former WWE Champion will star as Kerr, who later battled substance abuse issues, in the highly anticipated movie, currently slated for release in 2025. The picture will be directed by Benny Safdie, whose most notable work to date was the Adam Sandler-led Netflix release, ‘Uncut Gems’.

‘The Great One’ is expected to make a WWE return in the coming months but seems unlikely to be a permanent feature due to promoting two further upcoming releases before the turn of the year.

The 51 year-old headlines an all-star cast in Christmas action-comedy ‘Red One‘, due to be released on 15th November whilst ‘Moana 2’, in which The Rock will reprise his famed role as Maui, is scheduled to reach cinemas on 26th November.

The Rock Set For Showdown With Cody Rhodes

Having last been seen in an in-ring segment with Cody Rhodes on the Raw following WrestleMania 40, The Rock looks likely to be a collision course with ‘The American Nightmare’ when he makes his long-awaited return to WWE television.

The pair faced off in a tag team bout in the main event of Night One at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field in April, with The Rock pinning Rhodes to secure victory for his team.

Rhodes is keen on a singles bout with the ‘Final Boss’, confirming in a recent interview that is offer for a one on one encounter still stands.
