Paul Heyman Reacts To The Bloodline Attacking Him On WWE SmackDown

Paul Heyman Solo Sikoa WWE

Paul Heyman discussed why The Bloodline attacking him on WWE SmackDown was necessary for the story being told.

The last time fans saw WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman was nearly two months ago on the June 28th edition of Smackdown in New York City.

That was the night when The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa, who once told Heyman that Roman Reigns was never coming back, told Heyman to acknowledge Solo as the Tribal Chief. When Heyman refused to do that, Solo’s version of The Bloodline including Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa & Jacob Fatu attacked Heyman.

It was a vicious attack by The Bloodline as they destroyed the “Wise Man” Heyman by giving him a triple Powerbomb through the Smackdown commentary table.

At the Fanatics Fest event in New York City, Paul Heyman spoke to Sam Roberts about why that attack had to be done because of how it advanced the storyline.

“Well, they had to do that. I mean that’s the exclamation point of what they’re doing at some point. For Solo to become The Tribal Chief, for Tama Tonga to become the right-hand man, for Jacob Fatu to become The Enforcer, you have to take out The Wiseman. I’m the last link to the original Bloodline. I’m the last link to Roman Reigns.”

“So if you don’t take me out, then you still have this extension of what the original Bloodline was. But for Solo to become the dictator of the Island of Relevancy, for Solo to take over as The Tribal Chief, at some point, The Wiseman has to go, and if you don’t take me out, then it’s just an extension. So there was no better place for them to make their move than in Madison Square Garden, especially a week after Jacob Fatu debuted, and especially coming off all the momentum of his debut, and five weeks before SummerSlam, where Solo is going to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Title.”

“This was in hindsight, the absolute perfect moment for them to make their move. And if they’re going to make their move, you can’t half-ass it. You can’t just thumb me in the throat and drop me. If you’re gonna go you go big. If you don’t go big, we don’t belong on the main stage at Madison Square Garden.”

As Heyman said, this attack happened in Madison Square Garden, which is where Heyman got his start in pro wrestling as a photographer when he was a teenager.

Paul Heyman Believes Roman Reigns Is The Most Innovative WWE Superstar Ever

Earlier this year, Heyman did his best to talk about Reigns’ place in history.

“Roman Reigns is the most innovative, transformative, disruptive superstar in the history of pro wrestling/sports entertainment. The reason why I can accurately make that statement is because Roman Reigns employs two tenant mantras of show business.

One, he reads the room. Two, he knows his audience. That’s why he would fit into any era–whether it’s in the 70’s against Sammartino, the 80’s against Hulk Hogan, the 90’s in the Dangerous Alliance, the Attitude Era against Stone Cold and The Rock and DX, the John Cena era of The Doctor of Thugonomics, or now in the tenure being enjoyed by Roman Reigns, in his own era he created, when he lifted the whole industry out of the pandemic and into unfathomable heights that no one could have imagined or dreamt of back in August of 2020.”

Now that Roman Reigns has returned to WWE television, it seems like a matter of time until Paul Heyman is by his side again.
