Updated WWE Super Showdown Lineup for June 7, WWE Title Match Added, Triple H/Orton Video

There are seven matches that are official for the WWE Super Showdown WWE Network event on June 7 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

During last night’s edition of Smackdown, the WWE Championship match was officially announced for the event with Kofi Kingston defending the gold against Dolph Ziggler, who appeared on WWE TV for the first time since the Royal Rumble back in January. Ziggler’s “WWE vacation” (his term for it) is over.

After Kingston beat Sami Zayn on Smackdown, Ziggler attacked him from behind. Ziggler’s attack saw him use a steel chair that he wrapped around Kingston’s head and he drove Kingston into the announce table. He also stomped on the chair.

Later in the show, Ziggler did a promo explaining his actions by saying that Kingston stepping up earlier in the year and proving himself as WWE Champion is something that should have happened for Ziggler, not Kingston. Ziggler kept repeating the phrase “it should have been me” and used that as an explanation for what he did.

After Smackdown was over, Kingston was shown backstage where he accepted Ziggler’s challenge to make the WWE Championship match official.

As we covered in another post about Super Showdown earlier today, Ziggler was originally supposed to be in Australia on the weekend of June 7th at a Comic Con event, but WWE pulled him from that booking and replaced him by Carmella.

Here are videos of Ziggler’s attack, Ziggler’s promo and Kingston accepting the WWE Championship challenge.

Another match that is expected to take place at Super Showdown will see Seth Rollins defending the Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar. It was annoucned on Raw this week that Lesnar will also be on Raw next week, which is when we might found out about the match because Lesnar might cash in Money in the Bank on Rollins for the Super Showdown match. It’s possible that WWE will simply announce Rollins vs. Lesnar at Super Showdown without having Lesnar cash-in the MITB contract too, but we don’t know that yet. However, it is expected that we will see Rollins vs. Lesnar at Super Showdown.

Here’s the listing of official matches for Super Showdown on June 7th.

The Undertaker vs. Bill Goldberg

Triple H vs. Randy Orton

Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon

WWE Championship: Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler

Braun Strowman vs. Bobby Lashley

Intercontinental Championship: “Demon” Finn Balor (c) vs. Andrade

50-man battle royal

There are no women’s matches expected to take place.

A video package was shown on Smackdown highlighting the rivalry between Triple H and Randy Orton. It ran for just under four minutes. You can watch it below.
