WWE Rumor: Shawn Michaels Could Have Important Role At WrestleMania 32

WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels was a guest on Ric Flair’s WOOOOO! Nation podcast last month where they discussed how Vince McMahon reportedly tried getting the Heartbreak Kid to temporarily come out of retirement. McMahon was hoping Michaels would agree to be an entrant in this year’s Royal Rumble match. While Michaels declined their Royal Rumble offer, the company now wants him to be involved at WrestleMania 32 in some fashion.

WWE officials are reportedly interested in having Michaels play a significant role at this year’s WrestleMania, this is according to PWInsider Elite. The company’s interest in having Michaels involved in their biggest show of the year makes sense since WrestleMania 32 will be held in Michaels’ home state of Texas.

Since injuries have sidelined some of the company’s biggest names, WWE is also trying to up the ante when it comes having some major star power at their “show of shows.” The role Michaels is being eyed for has yet to be disclosed. However, it was recently revealed that the role Batista was being courted for at WrestleMania 32 was that of special guest referee during the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Triple H and Roman Reigns. Maybe the WWE is looking to have some sort of big name in this special guest referee slot, and Michaels may be the next one on their radar.

Mark’s reaction: If the WWE wants HBK to participate in their most important show of the year in a non-wrestling capacity, I could see him going through with it. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Michaels decided to agree to be the special guest referee in the Triple H vs. Roman Reigns WWE Title match (if WWE’s looking for someone to fill that role).

Michaels has played special guest referee many times in the past and was even the referee for The Undertaker and Triple H’s “End of an Era” Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 28. I can’t believe it’s already been four years since that match took place.

I’m not really looking forward to seeing Triple H vs. Roman Reigns compete for the WWE Title to begin with, but I guess having HBK as the special guest referee would make me care a little bit more about the match. I’ve got to think about it some more. Would you like to see Shawn Michaels involved in WrestleMania 32? If so, in what capacity? Does having Michaels as the special guest referee in Triple H and Roman Reigns’ potential WrestleMania match get you excited? Leave any of your thoughts in the comment section below.
