It appears that another WWE Hall of Famer may be joining the legendary Jim Ross on commentary for the recently announced Mae Young Classic (a global tournament that will see 32 female wrestlers competing in presumably single elimination style). The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that Lita could be good Ol’ JR’s partner for the tournament that starts taping in July.
That’s a good choice for two reasons: the obvious one being that it makes sense to have a woman giving feedback and input in real time during a wrestling tournament exclusively spotlighting women, and the second being that she has experience doing something similar from when she used the host the PPV pre-shows.
On a somewhat related note, I actually had the opportunity to meet Lita last month at a comic convention. Without a doubt, she was one of the nicest professional wrestlers I have ever met and really down to earth talking to her fans.
The Mae Young Classic will tape on July 13th and July 14th at Full Sail University in Orlando.
