WWE Rumor Killer: Physical WWE Hall of Fame In Orlando Is Not Happening

TJR Wrestling

Last week there was a report making its rounds from Attractions Management that a physical WWE Hall of Fame building would be at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Although it was never confirmed by World Wrestling Entertainment at their WrestleMania 33 press conference, the details were quite specific so it sounded like there were at least heavy discussion about putting the WWE Hall of Fame there.

However, this will not be the case after all as Universal announced today that the former NBA City restaurant building will now be the home of a chocolate factory. It will be called Toothsome Chocolate Factory and is planned to open later this year. To read more about it from the Orlando Sentinel, you can click right here.

Mark’s reaction: This news is bittersweet for me. I’m a bit upset as I was looking forward to the prospect of going to an actual WWE Hall of Fame and now we’re going to have to wait even longer for that to happen. However, I’m also pretty happy about the news as I wasn’t too crazy about the restaurant/museum idea. I was fine with it, but it was more of a grateful “something is better than nothing” approach.

Now I feel like the WWE has another chance to do it right, and by do it right I mean making it a full-fledge museum like the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York or the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Maybe a smaller restaurant near the museum would be a nice attraction too, but I don’t think the restaurant should be just as important as the museum.

There is a lot of opportunity and a lot of different directions WWE can take with their Hall of Fame to make it feel different than any other, so what are some of your ideas? Also, does this news upset you now that you’re going to have to wait longer for a physical WWE Hall of Fame, or would you rather wait for it to be done right than rush into it?
